Hi, back for round two as competitions officer for Scotland & the North, alongside Ben this time! This is my fifth year playing korfball, having started at Edinburgh Uni where I’m entering my final year. I’ve been on the EUKC committee for four of those, and have also reffed at last year’s BUCS Tropy and Plate events, and will hopefully be doing the same this year. Once upon a time (probably when I was asking people to vote for me) I mentioned a potential BSKA app for keeping track of next matches, courts, and opponents. If this still hasn’t surfaced when we next meet feel free to give me a kick/slap/glowering side-glance.

I started Korfball almost 5 years ago when I saw it advertised at my fresher’s fair at Bristol University. When I joined the Committee the club had only 10 members, but by the time I graduated we had just created a 3rd team for the very first time. I then moved back home to Newcastle and created the Northumbria University Korfball club and now I’ve graduated I am playing for Northern Storm. This year I’ll be working with Michael Garbutt to make sure the Northern and Scottish competitions run as smoothly as possible.

john  GB Student Squad Manager – John Bagnall (Edinburgh City)
I have played Korfball for around 6 years now having started playing as an undergraduate at Oxford University. I moved to Edinburgh University before finally joining my current club, Edinburgh City. I have had the privilege of representing my club at two Europa Cups as well as having played for the Scottish National Team in times gone by. I first joined the BSKA Exec last year as National Competitions Manager but have now moved roles to become the GB Squad Manager. Working together with the GB coaches, I will oversee the administration side of the student team including the organisation of trials. This year we hope to put together a bigger squad with the goal of aiding development of student korfball as well as showcasing its strength on both a national and international stage.
